Carry On Essentials
Whether I am in the air for 2 hours or 12, there are a few items I never leave home without. With a few carry on essentials you can make air travel somewhat a bit more luxurious. Not everyone can be stuck at the front of the plane with champagne and caviar, Darling.
Dry Shampoo
There’s nothing like getting off a 24-hour flight and having hair flat as a pancake. Heck even after a 3-hour flight, the fullness can be sucked out of my hair. Blowpro Dry shampoo not only makes me look like I just walked out of the salon but also doubles as a way to eliminate body sweat.
Moisturizer
Along with sucking the life out of my hair, flights also zap the moisture from my skin. Avène Thermal Spring Water is a no fuss, no mess solution to putting the moisture back in the pores. Just spray and go.
Toothbrush and Paste
Since I can’t have a hot luxurious shower midflight, brushing my teeth is the next best thing to feeling fresh again midflight.
Carmex
A wonder ointment that I use for a sore nose and dry lips and skin.
Wet Ones
Yes you will need these and no they are not just for babies. Who ever created these was a genius. You never know what form of muck you might find in the airport, plane, taxi and TOILET!! First thing I do when I sit down on a plane is wipe down the tray table.
Deodorant wipes
The person next to you will thank you, trust me.
Passport
The most important thing, yet it surprises me how many people often forget it.
Passport wallet
A great orderly way to hold passport, tickets and credit cards as well as a pen. You will always need a pen. I also love the pouch for foreign coins.
iPad
I have magazines, video, books and games on my iPad that keep me busy for the longest of flights. The best part is, many screens in the headrests now have a USB port, which can be used to charge your iPad. Just make sure to pack the cord in your carry on. I currently have the iPad 3 but the mini is significantly lighter and more ideal for travel. If it comes between choosing a laptop or tablet, stick to the tablet. They don’t need to be taken out at security checks making airport hopping a much smoother process.
DSLR Camera
I don’t go anywhere without my camera. Yes it can be heavy but there really isn’t anything to discuss.
Phone Charger Case
This bad boy has saved my life on numerous occasions. Of course running out of battery is a life-threating situation especially when there is an Instagram to post! It acts as a heavy-duty protective case and charges my iPhone to 100% when it runs out of juice.
Pashmina
Half blanket, half pillow, half outfit. Yes that equals more than a whole but it comes in oh so handy. Flights are notoriously chilly and those plane blankets are questionable.
Noise-Canceling Headphones
The best investment I have made (or my boyfriend made for me). I am a total convert. I never thought the noise on a plane to be that bad…until I put them on. Now I never fly without them.
Some great tips here. Love your description of a pashmina; it really is useful on so many levels 🙂
If you like the Bose Quiet Comfort 15… check out the new in ear noise cancelling headphones Quiet Comfort 20… great noise reduction at a fraction of the size and comfy to wear… plus they work as normal headphones even when the battery is flat… I have worn them from Europe to Australia (28 hours) and no probs with sleeping, etc
